Plumeria’s Cycle: From Pollination to Seed

by Tex Norwood

In the realm of the plumerias fragrant sway,
Unfolds a tale of nature’s ballet.
Where thrips and moths, and tiny ants roam,
In this floral kingdom, they find a home.

The Phoenix Moth, in twilight’s soft glow,
Dances amidst the blossoms, to and fro.
And thrips, so slight, in their tireless quest,
Brush against stamens, in diligent zest.

Tiny ants scurry, with purpose so grand,
In the plumeria’s realm, they lend a hand.
Each plays a role, in this symphony of life,
A harmonious blend, free of strife.

With each visitation, a miracle’s set,
As pollen grains travel, without regret.
To another bloom, where they find their fate,
In the heart of the flower, they pollinate.

In the wake of this dance, a seedpod is born,
Holding the future, in its form.
For nine long months, it will slowly mature,
A testament to life, so pure.

Within each pod, a world unseen,
Countless seeds, each a dream.
Every one unique, a plumeria’s soul,
Part of a greater, magnificent whole.

As the pods open, to the sky so vast,
The seeds are released, from their chamber at last.
Carried by winds, to lands unknown,
In new soils, their beauty will be shown.

From the delicate dance of moth and ant,
To the thrip’s silent journey, nothing’s left to chance.
In each seed, a story of survival and grace,
A new plumeria, in time, will find its place.

So behold the cycle, of bloom and seed,
A narrative of life, of want and need.
In each plumeria seed, a unique world lies,
A testament to nature’s wise.
